Tom Leach - A Biography

THOMAS P. Leach - 6-12-27 - 5-31-2006

Tom Leach, formerly of Sun Valley, Ca., passed away on May 31st in Sylmar, Ca. after a long illness.  He and his wife, Jane, were long-time residents of La Tuna Canyon in Sun Valley, but in recent years, Tom was cared for in Sylmar, Ca.

Tom was born June 12, 1927, in Minneapolis, Mn.  He married his wife, Jane, in 1952, and they moved to Calif. In 1953., settling first in Burbank.  They bought their home in La Tuna Cyn in 1955 because of their desire to own horses on their property.  Tom eventually became a member of the San Fernando Rangers, a horseback riding auxiliary of the San Fernando Police Dept. doing search and rescue work.  He also was a long-time member of Equestrian Trails, Inc.

Also, in 1955, Tom formed his company, Numatic Engineering, which exists today in Sun Valley.  The company recently celebrated 50 years in business.  The company is owned and operated by his two sons, Steve and Dave.  Tom retired from the company in 1995.

In 1980, Tom returned to his greatest enjoyment, golf.  He and Jane joined La Canada Country Club.  Prior to his illness, Tom played golf several times a week with good friends.  He was a competitive and enthusiastic golfer and enjoyed discussing the game with anyone who would listen.  He also enjoyed his garden, and propagated orchids in his greenhouse.

Tom will be greatly missed by many friends and family, which includes son Steve (Debbie), Dave (Cynthia) his loving wife, Jane, of 54years, and grandchildren, Chris, Kelsie, Jeffrey, Ashley, and Matt.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM  on June 17th, at Eternal Valley Cemetery in Newhall, Ca. followed by a celebration of life at La Canada Country Club at 1:00 PM.

The family requests no flowers.  Donations, if you wish, can be made to the charity of your choice.
