The Automation program provides students with a comprehensive understanding
of industrial hydraulic and pneumatic principles. There
is substantial hands on training to ensure students are familiar with
circuit design and troubleshooting principles.
The objective of our programs is to provide industry with trained
technicians who have an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
and their associated electrical control systems. Special emphasis is
given in developing the technician's skills in planning, selecting,
testing, installation, and maintenance of equipment and systems of the
type used in automated systems and robotics.

The program emphasizes practical 'hands on' applications of

Ohio State ATI's Fluid Power program provides a balanced curriculum consisting of technical and general courses, as well as practical experience. This combination, along with small classes and individual attention, prepares students to immediately meet the needs of industry upon graduation.
The Associate of Applied Science degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 102 quarter credit-hours of technical and general studies.
The technical courses include the study of fluid power components, electrohydraulics, technical graphics and CAD, and instrumentation. The comprehensive curriculum also includes the study of power transmission, digital electronics and technological problem solving. A minimum of 51 hours are required in technical courses.
Fluid Power students also complete 51 hours of general studies which include written and oral communication,
social sciences, mathematics, and chemical and physical science.
